Chapter # 9

Cypress Head

Cypress Head is really a tiny island next to Cypress Island and connected with a narrow isthmus where you land your dinghy.  No floats, but in the little bay are three anchor buoys. If you can get your boat in close enough you can get out of the swells and wakes that sometime plague boaters at unprotected Pelican Beach a short distance northward.  On shore are campsites with the best views and even worse falls if you sleep walk.

Hiking trails connect with the rest of Cypress island trails, linking Pelican Beach, Eagle Harbor, and Eagle Bluff.

Cypress Head and Pelican Beach are popular destinations for kayakers and small sailboats from Anacortes and Bellingham, For them, visiting Cypress does not require crossing Rosario Strait.
